A home app built for daily life
I can find a note, check the calendar or turn on a light without jumping between apps. I built HomeApp for my household. It runs on my home server, in a browser and as an app on my phone.
Notes I can find again
I save text, photos and voice recordings. The app reads text from images, searches by words or meaning, keeps earlier versions and lets me share entries with my household.
New results every morning
The app checks selected websites against my criteria and collects job and housing listings, news and prices. Each morning, it only alerts me to new results.
Local assistants, private data
A shared home assistant and a personal one use a local language model. They can find notes, check the weather or control devices without sending my data to the cloud.
Home controls in one place
I control lights, the dishwasher and the vacuum, check sensors and view the family calendar. HomeApp also reminds us about chores and bin days, and silences notifications at night.
I built HomeApp with React and TypeScript, a Node.js/Express backend, PostgreSQL, Docker containers, local models through Ollama and automations in n8n.
